St Saviour’s Cathedral

Website Redesign

St Saviours Cathedral
Goulburn, NSW

St Saviours Cathedral is the Mother Church of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn — a building of genuine grandeur, with a community to match. Their existing website reflected none of that. It was outdated, difficult to update, and failed to capture either the beauty of the building or the warmth of the congregation.

The Issues

The site ran on an aging Drupal platform that had become difficult to access and maintain. The design felt lifeless and austere. Imagery was limited and focused narrowly on the exterior of the building. Navigation was poorly organised, information had grown stale, and there was no functional way to route enquiries about the cathedral’s various services — weddings, funerals, venue hire — to the right people.

What We Did

We rebuilt the site on WordPress, giving the cathedral a modern, user-friendly CMS they could manage confidently in-house. The design takes its lead from the building itself — the magnificent leadlight windows and ornate interiors become the visual palette. We commissioned a photoshoot to bring a new image library to life, with a deliberate focus on people: parishioners, visitors, community. The structure of the site was reorganised for clarity, content was rewritten into shorter, more accessible blocks, and individual service pages were each given their own tailored contact form — so that every enquiry arrives with the right information, routed to the right person.

The Result

A website as welcoming as the cathedral itself — one the congregation is proud of, the clergy can keep current, and visitors actually want to use. Website traffic has increased, and the feedback from the church has been overwhelmingly positive.
