As the Goulburn Soldiers Club approached its 101st anniversary in 2022, they set out to document the club’s journey from 1989 to the present day — a companion volume to their first publication, which had covered the years 1921 to 1988. The brief was to create a book worthy of the occasion: visually compelling, historically thorough, and built to last.

Our Role

Jordan Design was engaged across both design and project management. That meant not only designing the book, but coordinating the collation of materials, procuring print and copywriting services, developing timelines, and managing communication between all parties from start to finish.

The Design

The 388-page book follows a chronological timeline format spanning 32 years — a structure that lets readers move through the club’s history naturally, milestone by milestone. The design incorporates a rich archive of imagery: newspaper clippings, event photography, patron portraits, and community moments.

An olive gold and black colour palette gives the book an elegant, timeless quality that suits both the gravity of the subject and the heritage of the institution. The printed cover features matte cello varnish, metallic gold foiling, and embossed detailing — a tactile, considered finish that signals the significance of what’s inside.

The Result

A comprehensive, beautifully produced record of 101 years of community life. A document the club and its members will return to for generations.
